Vintage Japanese Wooden Storage Box for Tea Bowl

Wooden boxes are a common method of safely keeping and storing delicate pottery, vases, and other ceramic, clay, and glass items in Japan. In addition to pottery, they are also widely used for a plethora of other traditional Japanese crafts including kimono accessories, wrapping cloths, chopsticks, commemorative gifts, etc. 

This stout, perfectly square vintage wooden box with a lid is made to hold a tea bowl (chawan). It can also be used for general storage of trinkets or use for display or other crafts/projects.

• Good condition considering age. Some scratches and discolorations. Lid brackets are missing so the lid is loose. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
