FABULOUS, GENTLY USED, SILKY POLYESTER, JAPANESE-MADE, KIMONO-STYLE DRESSING GOWN / ROBE - Long Length with matching Belt - ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS - Beautiful, Deep, Shaded Pink / Light Red with Fuchsia tone, with White, and Black with Design of Traditional Japanese Flying Cranes and Peonies. This pattern is pretty much discontinued but similar robes by this maker sell today for around £89

You are offered a  gently used, beautiful, soft, lustrous, feminine, top quality, silky polyester Japanese-made kimono dressing gown / robe. The fabric is fine, soft and silky. This slightly older version has slightly thicker fabric than the current models.

The base colour is deep and bright pink/lightred with a fuchsia pink tone. There are graduated shades of colour that darken to a very dark red tone in certain places.

The pattern shows traditional white and black flying cranes (Tsuru). These are a celebratory symbol representing joy, fidelity and long life. There are also peony flowers and leaves in subtle shades of lighter pinks. There are also swirling lines representing water.

The outlines of the flowers and water swirls looks to be a deep grey with a tiny touch of gold. I suspect these lines were originally gold in colour but have now dulled.

I believe this robe was bought as a souvenir from Japan many years ago and gently used. The makers label shows no name but just a logo of a village scene. This is the best maker of these types of robe in my opinion.

The same pattern is still made today but in a silk version, which is much more expensive than the polyester would be.  you can see it on this page selling for £189. I think similar types of long robes in polyester presently cost around £89.

The care labels are faded but would have shown that the robe is polyester and machine washable. I have washed similar ones that I own, many times and they always look as good as new.

SIZE: It is slightly larger and slightly shorter than average.   Although it is a 'one size fits all' garment because it is a wrap round style,  I think it would fit a range of sizes up to a maximum of UK 16/perhaps small 18. I think the best fit would be UK 16.

The length is quite long at 53"/134.5cm long.

The width from one cuff to the other cuff is 52"/132cm.

The width across the back (armpit to armpit) is 26"/66cm.  The width all around the waist, from the front of one side, all the way round the back, to the front of the other side is around 59"/150cm and please remember you need a good crossover in the front.

The robe weighs about 300g. The belt is about 80"/203cm long.

AGE & CONDITION:  I suspect this was bought around the 1990s.

It appears to gently used and in excellent vintage condition. There are no obvious faults at all. If you look very carefully there are a few pulled threads.  The care label is wholly faded. The originally gold outlining is now dulled overall. It is a gently used item in excellent vintage condition and wearable but please do not expect it to look like new.

If you need any more information, please ask.

All information is to the best of my knowledge. Please bear in mind, that colours do not always show absolutely accurately on photos and on monitors although they should be close to reality.

My items are mostly vintage and are not returnable unless grossly mis-described, so please check the details and measurements before bidding/buying. Please be aware that vintage clothing does not usually 'look like new' even when it is in excellent condition. Some slight general signs of ageing and use should be expected. If these are conspicuous, they will be mentioned in the description.

Low feedback
– For auctions, if you have less than 3 feedbacks, please email me before bidding. If you do not, I may cancel your bid and block you from bidding until we have communicated. Sorry about this but it is based on previous experience of problems.

Delivery Address – I can only post to the address shown on the paypal/ebay payment, otherwise none of us are protected by the paypal/ebay policies.

Payment and postage terms: The postal charge includes a small packaging and handling charge. eBay now charge a final value fee commission on the postal charge as well as the item value. So I have had to pass this new cost on via the postal cost.

UK buyers – I have to used tracked postage now to protect both the buyer and seller in case of problems with delivery.

On post to overseas.- I am now using the eBay Global Shipping Programme, so the shipping rates are not set buy me. Once the item has left my hands, the control of the shipping is with eBay.

Please note that once the parcel has left my hands, I cannot accept responsibility for the performance of the postal services or customs in your country. Or for any customs or import duties/taxes charged in your country.

Combined postage for UK buyers, depending on what you buy, I will look into the most secure and economical way to send combined parcels and advise you of options. But, as the weight and value of the parcel rises so does the postage cost. Please do not expect large savings on combined postage. Sometimes it is actually cheaper to send more than one parcel.

RETURNS POLICY – I do not take returns except in the exceptional circumstance of an item being wrongly described. Please understand that selling items on ebay and posting them out incurs costs to me, so please don't buy unless you have read the description carefully and are sure that you want the item. Except in the situation where an item has been wrongly described, the buyer is always responsible for return postage.
