The Helios 44-2 58 mm f/ 2  "Zebra" (Russian: "Гелиос") is a fast standard lens with a single coating. This lens was developed basing on Biotar 2/58 (Carl Zeiss Jena) lens.

This was one of the most spreaded lens that were released for a "ZENIT-E" camera. Helios 44-2 58/2 has a thread mount M42x1. Aperture control is manual with a pre-adjustment ring. In spite of it's popularity and low cost Helios 44-2 58/2 provides very vivid, contrasting and enough sharp images.Resolution by the lens technical passport: 38/20 lp/mm

The lenses have different factory numbers. Old oil has been removed from the diaphragm and other moving parts of the lens. The front and rear lens have been blackened (see video).
The best Bokeh image is at an open aperture of f/2-f/5,6 and when the distance to the photographed image is 1.2-2.5m. The background should be about 3m from the object and should be illuminated with flashes of light.It is a lens for the creative process and you need to know how to work with it.
Considering the crop factor (58mm x crop1.5=87mm), this is a simple portrait lens intended for creative photography.
