First designed in 1958, the original version of this bag was named the G 1907. Then in 1961 it was re-named the Jackie, after Jacqueline Onassis, wife of the late John F. Kennedy, and nicknamed Bouvier, after Jackie’s surname (Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy). The original featured a piston lock closure. In 1999, Tom Ford reissued the Jackie with a snap clasp closure. Then, in 2009, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini created the New Jackie with a slouchier silhouette, some with tassels and whipstitching. Next came the Jackie Soft in 2014. Most recently, Alessandro Michele reintroduced the Jackie in his Chateau Marmont Collection in 2019.
