100% genuine Japanese product

Kaikei lived during the turbulent Kamakura period and created a new era of sculptural expression.
Manipulating light, he created divinely detailed Buddha statues.
Photographer Kosuke Sasaki made the figure stand out in the darkness using strong light and shadows.
A book that allows you to fully enjoy Kaikeibutsu, covering major domestic works.

Kaikei (date of birth and death unknown)
was a Buddhist sculptor active during the Kamakura period(1185-1333). Along with Unkei,

he is one of the leading Buddhist sculptors of the Kamakura period.
Many of the Buddhist sculptors of this school use the character Kei in their names,
so they are called the Kei school. Kaikei is also known as An'Amidabutsu, and his intellectual,
painterly, and delicate style is called ``Anami-sama'' (Anami-sama). There are many examples of statues of Amida Nyorai that are around 3 feet tall,
and many still have inscriptions.
