Description - Splendid 19th century French good gauge solid silver snuff box of rectangular form with a hinged lid and thumb piece

lid decorated with an enamelled arcade and central fountain, with sea and cityscape behind, the sides and base have engine turned decoration

interior is silver-gilt (gold washed).

French hallmarked inner rim with lozenge maker’s mark  and Minerva head "1" for post 1838 guarantee mark and indicating 950/ 1000 solid silver fineness.

Condition - There is a split along the length of the rear bottom edge which is repairable (please inspect end photographs) and pale green and blue enamel losses to arcading, 

the lid's hand engraved decoration is crisp and clear, sides and base have rubbing to the engine turned decoration

lid's hinge is strong closing the lid securely

interior silver gilt is bright but has scratching.
