If you’re a Nationals fan (and I’m guessing you are if you’re buying this baseball), then you know how important May 24, 2019 was. It would be generous to say that the Nats struggled to start the 2019 season. By the time they got to May 24, they were 19-31 — a dozen games below .500. The season was over after it had barely started.

Or so it seemed. We all know the ending. The Nats went on a miraculous run for the rest of the season and became World Series Champs!

But that run all started on May 24, 2019. The Marlins visited the Nats at Nationals Park. Kyle McGowin started for the Nats, while Pablo Lopez went for the Marlins.

The game looked like it would be another tire fire for the Nats. In the first inning, McGowin gave up a two-run HR to Brian Anderson. Adam Eaton cut the lead in half with a solo shot in the bottom of the first. But the Marlins scored two more in the top of the second when Lopez drove in Harold Ramirez and Jorge Alfaro. (The Nats couldn’t even get the pitcher out!) The Nats tied it in the bottom of the third with an Eaton RBI groundout and an Anthony Rendon home run, but quickly lost the lead when Curtis Granderson hit a home run in the top of the fourth. The Marlins poured on three more in the fifth. The Nats got a run in the bottom of the inning when Matt Adams GIDP to score Rendon. In the sixth, Trea Turner singled in Victor Robles.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Nats were down 8-6. Adam Conley was pitching for the Marlins. He walked Juan Soto to lead off the inning. Adams flew out. Brian Dozier walked to the plate. On a 1-1 count, Conley threw a wild pitch that let Soto take second. That ball was thrown out AND THIS BALL CAME INTO THE GAME!! Conley threw THIS BALL for a 95.2 mph four-seam fastball for ball three. He doubled up with another four-seamer for ball four. Dozier walked (off this ball!). Victor Robles came to bat. ON THE FIRST PITCH, ROBLES SMACKED THIS BALL TO LF FOR A BASES-CLEARING DOUBLE THAT TIED THE GAME!!! The Nationals went on to win the game 12-10 (with Sean Doolittle earning the save). The rest, as they say, is history. Here is your chance to own a piece that started that history.

This ball is MLB Authenticated for Dozier’s walk and Robles’ game-tying double on May 24, 2019 — the Nationals’ 20th win on their way to winning the World Series!! Thank you for purchasing!!
