California state highway 13 bear sign.

Up for sale today is this California state highway 13 prototype sign. Made to the exact standards as used in 1929 by the Auto Club of Southern California for a series of prototypes of state and county route markers. these were among the last signs designed with the diamond form factor before the state switched away from them in March, 1929. please see the accompanying photo of two prototypes on the famous ACSC cast-iron stands.

I can of course make this sign with any route number, or even as a county route as those prototypes exist as well!

The original of these, complete with the logo of the Automobile Club of Southern California, would cost many thousands of dollars if it even survives at all. This sign is a faithful remake to the correct size (18 inches on a side, or about 25 1/2 inches up and down between the points), and weighs about 8 pounds, 4 ounces. please note that I can make a diamond sign for any set of destinations. inquire about custom orders!

This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!

Would you like a number not seen here? Or perhaps a different style? I can of course make these signs with any city name of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and route shield signs from the era. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A.

Figure about 10 pounds for shipping, packed with care and mailed from zip code 61833.
