This rare mezzotint depicts an allegory of the alliance between France and the Thirteen American Colonies through the Treaty of Alliance from 1778. America is depicted as a native Indian woman, whose feet rest on the defeated (British) leopard. Next to her is a monument that shows the portraits of Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and Louis XVI.
