Vintage Japanese Wooden Drawer Storage Box

Wooden boxes are a common method of safely keeping and storing delicate pottery, vases, and other ceramic, clay, and glass items in Japan. In addition to pottery, they are widely used for many other traditional Japanese crafts including kimono accessories, wrapping cloths, chopsticks, commemorative gifts, etc. 

This long, narrow drawer taken from a vintage desk is a medium brown color with a clear finish. The front panel has a carved round knob set into the wood. There is a metal wire in a groove along the top side as when it was included in furniture, it would keep the drawer firmly in place. This piece can also be used for general storage of trinkets, displays, or other crafts/projects.
