Vintage AA Small Car Radiator Badge 1962-63

As more and more members joined the AA, they had to come up with another way to differentiate badges. In 1945 the AA started to add prefixes to the badges that came before the numbers. The shape was also made more compact with a convex dome made out of chrome and had a basket-weave design. This design lasted until 1967. After this date the badges changed to the square, yellow type.

Any badge with 1C to 9C prefix is dated 1962–63. This badge has number 7C99474 and so is dated to 1962-63

This one is in good original condition. Its clearly been used and the chrome surround has micro pitting, but is bright and rust free. The yellow enamel background has suffered though and the paint is pitted and chipped to the face (please see photos). The correct brass fixing screws and long threaded nuts are also clean and original. However, one screw is slightly bent and cross threaded towards the top, but I think that there is enough thread to still attach to a radiator grill.

A lovely original period item for the classic car owner, collector, garage display or man cave.
