Our toquilla straw hat, crafted from the palm tree fibers(Carludovica Palmata), is originated from Ecuador, The beginning of its production started in 1630 in the Ecuadorian coastal city of Manabi; however, its popularity and crafting came later to the highland region of the country. Worlwide, our straw hats are known as "Panama Hats" due to the fact that in 1906, Theodore Roosevelt, the U.S. President at the time, wore these very hats on a visit to the Panama Canal. To this day, their roots and crafting have been made by Ecuadorian people wich have been taken to international markets, beign known as Cultural Heritage of Humanity, that is why we feel very prideful of our culture beign shared with you.
