Germany Iron Curtain highway sign.

Up for sale today is this German sign noting the former border between East and West Germany. The border was opened on November 10th, 1989 at 35 minutes past midnight when East German Socialist Unity Party official Gunter Schabowski accidentally announced that the border was open to everyone, a few weeks ahead of a more well-designed plan. A much larger version of this sign may be found in Germany at the present time. It shows the length of the Iron Curtain from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea.

(this listing is for the German language sign as seen. for an English language version of this sign, please see my other items!)

This sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and is 21 by 14 inches, scaled down accurately from the originals. The ones in field use are approximately ten feet wide. Here is a chance to own this sign without chancing legal trouble - or a hernia! It is a non-reflective sign - perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. (if you would like a different size version, please ask as I can certainly make one!)

. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!

I can of course make these signs with any route number of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from the era. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A.
