This charming antique oak splint basket was used back in the day for harvesting or carrying items to or from market. The basket, which is estimated to date back to the early 1900s, is made of oak and has nails and a few old staples.

Measurements:

Basket body is 12.5” x 7.75” x 4” h, with handle is approx 11” high.

Note the position of the handle being lengthwise making it easier to carry in the crook of your arm. I can imagine that this basket was often used in its day.

It’s in good shape with no major damage. Some dark areas here and there, handle has some spots. Still very sturdy and attractive basket. A few splints bent on corners. Has slight lean to one side. Nothing to detract. Would look amazing with some flower pots for summer.
