William Cowper Prime (1825 - 1905) was a lawyer, author, journalist and travel writer who wrote a number of books, several of which relate, at least in part, to fishing.


Many of the sketches in this book are set in New York and written in the form of a series of letters--several sketches relate to fishing.


The title page only identifies the author as: 'By the author of "The Old House By The River," and "The Owl Creek Letters."


First end page bears original owner's name in ink.
