PAIR OF BEAUTIFUL, NEW WITH TAGS  UNUSED,TRADITIONAL JAPANESE WOODEN WOMEN'S GETA SHOES -

New, Authentic, Japanese, Women's Geta  Shoes with Subtly Sparkling Pink Straps and Near Black Lacquered Wood (also called Zori, Thongs, flip flops, Sandals) - Size women's maximum UK 5  (although 4.5 is probably safer). , 24.5cm

This pair of geta shoes is a modern version of the traditional style. The base is made of light-weight but hardy wood which is paulownia (the label on the base says this in Japanese). This wood has a lacquered to a black, lustrous finish.

These shoes were bought from Japan and were made for the Japanese market and the labels are in Japanese, however, they were made in China.

The straps are made of soft, padded, fabric. The top of the strap is a deep bright pink with a fine netted material on top which is gently sparkling and with some fine lines of metallic pink threads which glitter.  The underneath of the strap, where it touches the foot, is soft white, velvet-like synthetic fabric.

These are a modern shape of geta shoe with a base made out of one piece of wood with rubber underneath. The straps are tied underneath in the traditional way.

The older type of geta  had two pieces of wood underneath and the wearer would rock them back and forth when walking making a click-clack noise which is where the word 'geta' comes from as it imitates the sound. Geta are the traditional shoe to be worn with summer wear yukata and casual kimono.

CONDITION:This pair are recently made. They are new with tags   I think these shoes are perfect for wearing as sandals or with a kimono.

SIZE:
This is a fairly typical Japanese size. Japanese shoes are usually sizes quite small/narrow by European and US standards. If you want to wear them check the sizing before buying. PLEASE NOTE - I will not take a return because they don't fit.

The length is 24.5cm/9.6inches in length from front to back and 8cm/3.15inches in width. The height at the heel is 4cm/1.5".
The labels says the size is 23-24.5cm which implies it will fit a range of sizes.

I believe the size roughly equates to about maximum woman's size of about UK5
(although 4.5 is probably safer).   Please remember the shoes are fairly narrow.

In Japan, the same size shoe is supposed to be worn by many sizes and if the foot is too long, it hangs off the back. Some people argue that the balance in geta is better if the heel hangs off the end but it doesn't sound very comfortable to me.

Altogether the shoes weigh about 230g

If you need any more information or pictures just send me a message.

All information is to the best of my knowledge. Please bear in mind, that colours do not always show absolutely accurately on photos and on monitors although they should be close to reality.

My items are mostly vintage and are not returnable unless grossly mis-described, so please check the details and measurements before bidding/buying. Please be aware that vintage clothing does not usually 'look like new' even when it is in excellent condition. Some slight general signs of ageing and use should be expected. If these are conspicuous, they will be mentioned in the description.

Low feedback
– For auctions, if you have less than 3 feedbacks, please email me before bidding. If you do not, I may cancel your bid and block you from bidding until we have communicated. Sorry about this but it is based on previous experience of problems.

Delivery Address – I can only post to the address shown on the paypal/ebay payment, otherwise none of us are protected by the paypal/ebay policies.

Payment and postage terms: The postal charge includes a small packaging and handling charge. eBay now charge a final value fee commission on the postal charge as well as the item value. So I have had to pass this new cost on via the postal cost.

UK buyers – I have to used tracked postage now to protect both the buyer and seller in case of problems with delivery.

On post to overseas.- I am now using the eBay Global Shipping Programme, so the shipping rates are not set buy me. Once the item has left my hands, the control of the shipping is with eBay.

Please note that once the parcel has left my hands, I cannot accept responsibility for the performance of the postal services or customs in your country. Or for any customs or import duties/taxes charged in your country.

Combined postage for UK buyers, depending on what you buy, I will look into the most secure and economical way to send combined parcels and advise you of options. But, as the weight and value of the parcel rises so does the postage cost. Please do not expect large savings on combined postage. Sometimes it is actually cheaper to send more than one parcel.

RETURNS POLICY – I do not take returns except in the exceptional circumstance of an item being wrongly described. Please understand that selling items on ebay and posting them out incurs costs to me, so please don't buy unless you have read the description carefully and are sure that you want the item.
