FABULOUS , VINTAGE BUT NEW & UNUSED, WOMAN'S JAPANESE, HAORI HIMO -TYING CORDS FOR HAORI JACKET

You do not normally find these cords for sale in the UK but I have some today. They are an accessory to be worn with a woman's haori kimono jacket.
I understand that these himo cords are sometimes used for crafting to make bracelets etc.

I believe that this pair are vintage even though they are new with tags and unused. They are a typical size and shape.

They are fairly typical in form, being are made of a fine intricately woven silk cords in a subdued purple/mauve. They have the typical tasseled ends.

The himo are the original plastic wrapper.

To put onto the jacket, you push the loop at the top of the himo, through the loop on the inside of the lapel of a haori jacket. You then pull the himo cord through its own loop, so that it attaches to the jacket. I can send you photos of this if you need them.

I will send instructions on how to tie haori himo in the traditional manner.

The himo are important as a finishing touch. They sit on the front of the chest as the haori jacket is usually worn open with the lapel/collar turned back and they look really elegant. The colours of himo are often chosen to match the haori lining or the kimono or obi worn underneath the haori jacket, so sometimes, they do not match the haori jacket itself (please see last photos).

AGE & CONDITION: I suspect these are fairly contemporary but probably old stock, so early Heisei Period (1989-2019). The cords are in new, mint condition.

POSTAGE ON THIS ITEM. Although small and light, they are too bulky to be sent as a letter so much be sent as a large letter. I can only offer tracked postage these days to protect both buyer and seller.

If you need any more information or pictures just send me a message.

All information is to the best of my knowledge. Please bear in mind, that colours do not always show absolutely accurately on photos and on monitors although they should be close to reality.

My items are mostly vintage and are not returnable unless grossly mis-described, so please check the details and measurements before bidding/buying. Please be aware that vintage clothing does not usually 'look like new' even when it is in excellent condition. Some slight general signs of ageing and use should be expected. If these are conspicuous, they will be mentioned in the description.
