This antique stationary box is a beautiful piece of English Victorian craftsmanship, made from burl veneer and oak with dovetailed front corner joints. The rich brown burl wood grain color and intricate design on the exterior and interior of the hinged lids make it a unique addition to any collection. Its age dates back to the late 19th century, making it a rare find for antique enthusiasts.  It measures approximately 14-3/8" wide closed (28-1/2" fully opened) x 6-3/4" front to back x 10-3/4" high.  It retains the original brass hinges, lock pin, lock, and key.  The lock-pin locks the left door and the drawer.  They will not open when the lock-pin is pushed down. The working lock with key on the right door is operational, but due to grain shrinkage of the doors, the lock catch cannot reach the left door.  The pen holder has a secret comment below.  The shaped interior stationary dividers are missing only 2 small side dividers.  The interior right door has the original brass tacks with remnants of criss-cross string.  The drawer has contact paper affixed in the bottom by a previous owner.  The underside has an old piece of green felt to protect surfaces.  This original piece is a perfect addition to any antique collection and is sure to impress.  This is a wonderful example, finely made, and fitted with original components.  Be sure to see our other listings for more antiques from the same estate collection.
