Karl Gerstner Geigy Heute 1958 And Geigy 1758 Bis 1939
Karl Gerstner, Markus Kutter, GGK , Geigy Heute,
Geigy 1758 bis 1939 , both original volumes included.A Typographic gem,
Karl Gerstner designed this book in 1958 in preparation for Geigy's 200
year anniversary. Markus Kutter provided the copy during the GGK
years. The volumes were given to employees of the company and never
distributed or offered for sale to the public. As a result, a lot of the
books were discarded. In Basel, Swiss typography is closely linked to
the local chemical industries. The two-volume publication was designed
by Karl Gerstner and written by Markus Kutter – a dream team that later
founded GGK, a successful advertising agency. Gerstner used his
trademark square format with brownish card wrappers and a white spine –
each volume had its own slipcase (not included with these volumes).
Akzidenz-Grotesk type, asymmetric page layout, grid-based image
placement all made for classic Swiss Typography.
