Beautiful Formia Vetri Di Murano elephant. This lovely elephant features an alabastro pink body encased in crystal clear glass (sommerso), with pretty opalescent ears, eyes and tusks.

The attribution to Formia is based upon extensive research into the form, color, technique and specifically they eyes. This type of eye and the deeper pink alabastro color were only done by the Formia furnace.

This piece stands 8.75 inches tall, measures 7.5 inches long, measures 3 inches wide (ear to ear) and weighs 3 pounds 14 ounces.

***PLEASE NOTE there is damage to one tusk (the top 1/3 is missing and there is a gouge in the glass where the tusk broke off), there is also one tiny flea bite on the clear glass towards the bottom of the front leg. Please see the two closeups showing damage.

No other damage found, this piece still displays beautifully.
