Antique Elaborate Gothic Mourning Swivel Brooch With Miniature Portrait - 6x5cm

A beautiful & venerable item remembering a loved one. Large gilt metal housing with an elaborate ornate border featuring fleur de lys & crescent motifs at all sides, with knot-like sections in between. Central swivel compartment with, on one side, a delicate silver floral decoration, & on the other side, a beautiful hand painted miniature portrait of a lady. Saftey chain present. C clasp closure. Glass panels present; one bevelled & the other is flat.

Condition: Used - some visible tarnish/oxidation spots on the metal, notably the swivel compartment sides. Slight fading of etched decorations. The pin is a tad loose, though still secure. Oxidation upon the silvered floral decoration within. Saftey chain has considerable loss of tone.
