The 4th Air Commando Squadron (Spooky 622) was an air unit in the United States Air Force led by the Strategic Air Command. The 4th ACS was assigned to the 23rd Air Division at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida during its active service from October 25, 1967 to July 29th, 1972. The squadron flew C-47 Skytrains, later known as DC-3s, outfitted with specially equipped UH-1 Iroquois helicopters and twin .50 caliber machine gun pods. The squadron’s mission was to provide close air support and direct air strikes on enemy targets in South Vietnam.
