Description

This is an

EXCELLENT

32 OZ

SET OF

ANTIQUE

BRONZE CUP WEIGHTS

In my estimation they date from around the mid 18th century, but please make up your own mind about this.

The weights are made in the Nuremberg manner, which means that each weight weighs exactly the same as the rest of the weights which sit inside it.

Thus a matched pair of weights is always at hand.

This (when you think about it) is no mean engineering achievement for over 200 years ago!

The outer case measures approx 1 3/4 inches (45mm) tall by 2 1/2 inches (65mm) in diameter and the weights are made from turned bronze.

The larger weights marked in

OUNCES

XVI (16 oz)

VIII (8oz)

IIII (4 oz)

II (2 oz)

along with various proof marks (see photos)

In total the set weighs

32 OUNCES

 (see photos for marks).

The set is in excellent antique condition, with no losses, replacements, or damage to the case.

The weights has developed a beautiful dark patina with age.

This is a fine set of antique cup weights and they would make a great addition to any collection.
