The plates include views from Heidelberg, Wurzburg, Frankfurt, Andernach, Cologne, Tournay, Bruges, Brussels, Antwerp, Utrecht, Rotterdam, The Hague, Amsterdam, and others.

The first edition of Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Batty's collection of sixty engravings illustrating the Rhine, Belgium and Holland. The first edition of this work. Collated, lacking 3 plates (Delft, Leyden, Haarlem), but retaining 57 engraved views. Each view is accompanied by a text leaf describing the location depicted. Newly rebound in brown quarter leather, over blue marbled boards. Bookcover in Mint condition. Hinges are sound, text-pages are lightly age-toned, with all plates in fine condition. Pre-title page is loose, a couple of loose text pages towards the end where the 3 plates are been missing. A beautifully illustrated and described work. Unpaginated but about 200 pages. 28 x 19 cm.
