Manufacturer: Athearn
Item #: 3906
Status: Built/ready to run
Road name: Southern Pacific
Engine number: 2638
Type couplers: KD knuckle couplers
Original box? Yes
Listing is for a
discontinued/out-of-production, HO (1/87th) scale, SW1500 diesel switcher by
Athearn. Item number was 3906.
This is a really nice looking
engine. It has a gray body with a “bloody nose”. White lettering on the sides
is for the Southern Pacific. Engine number 2638 is under the cab windows. However, what makes it really attractive is
the painted metal handrails on the sides and ends.
It was tested and ran
smoothly. The light at the front
illuminates when power is applied to the track regardless what direction it is
running.
It is NOT DCC ready, although
an experienced modeler could probably add a decoder inside the body.
Listed as used because it has
already been assembled and has seen a little layout time (but not much based on
the lack of debris on the wheels).
Item described as well as possible, but is
sold "as is" so please contact me if you have any questions.
I will combine multiple items to reduce
shipping whenever possible. If you win this item and win/purchase other item(s)
I am selling, please request an invoice to receive any combined shipping
discount. To request an invoice, add the items to your eBay cart and then
request an invoice on the checkout page. I will reply with an invoice
reflecting the combined shipping charge. Be aware that when you add items to
your cart and request the invoice you will be committed to buying them.
Note: some buyers have
indicated eBay’s system will not allow them to request an invoice from
me. If you are unable to request an invoice, you will have to
purchase the items and each item’s separate shipping cost. However,
I will refund any shipping overage.
Unless other arrangements are made,
payment is to be made within two days after auction ends or invoice is sent.

out-of-production or hard-to-find kits, especially Athearn "blue-box"
kits. Athearn discontinued manufacturing them in 2009, so they are becoming
scarce and hard to find. With Athearn’s purchase of Model Die Casting, Inc.,
the MDC/Roundhouse kits have also been discontinued and are no longer
available.
