Two Original, Antique Capenter and Co. Rim Locks.  Circa 1830's (House they were salvaged from was built in 1835).  If you're aware of the historical significance of these specific rim locks, you will understand their value when restored to original condition. These are the earliest examples of John Carpenters' work.  The Patent Medallions reflect this fact.  If you examine the photos provided, you will see a roman numeral 'VIII' hand engraved on the locks interior.  This is either a chronological reference number or a possible indication of the year manufactured.  Either way its either the eighth lock or referencing 1838 as the year of manufacture.

This info is corroborated by the British Patent Medallions granted by the King, as well as the local documented history of Wolverhampton, England, and more specifically, Sommerset, England at the beginning of the industrial revolution.

Restored they list in the U.S. and in Great Britain for between $675.00 and $800.00, each.  These are in perfect working condition, but they need some TLC that I  don't have time to give them.  That's why I have priced them, so if you are a reseller, there is plenty of room for profit.  If you're a homeowner looking for period door hardware that is in line with your local historical society or preservation board.  One would be lucky to find one complete Carpenter and Co. Rim lock from this period in this condition.  Here's your chance to have two.

I will gladly accept your return if you find that you have any issues at all with the purchased items.  I will ship the locks via priority mail the day following the receipt of payment.
