This is a wonderful early 19th-century pewter syringe.  This would be a great piece for early pewter collectors or collectors of early medical tools.  It measures approximately 4-1/4" long when pushed down, 6-1/2" long when extended. The syringe was likely used for medical purposes and features an incised design on the vial portion and beading on the edge of the cap.  The plunger shows the early string wrap.  It is in beautiful estate condition with NO breaks, NO splits, repairs  and NO restorations.  The threaded pewter cap rarely catches the pewter threading of the syringe, now, due to wear from use of the soft pewter metal for a utilitarian type medical tool.  It is a wonderful pewter form from the early 19th century and cconsidered a quack medical tool manufactured before 1930.
