Large and decorative Chinese Porcelain plaque painted with an elder or scholar and a child beneath a Lingzhi tree with calligraphy script  I am afraid I do not know the fable this scene depicts or the calligraphy poem though I believe it is about an orchid and a river.

These can be very difficult also to date. I am dating this as end of the 19th Century but it could be 20th century as well. It certainly is well drawn and has the feel of an earlier piece.

The plaque is in a n excellent undamaged condition

Size:  37cm (14.5 inches) in height and 25cm (almost 10 inches) in width
