1962 Press Photo Artist's Conception of Gemini Space Capsule & Project Mercury

This is an original press photo. This is an artist's conception of the two-man States space capsule named Gemini which will be used to practice techniques of joining with another vehicle while in orbit around the earth. It is similar in design to the current one-ton Mercury capsule, inset, but will be 50 percent larger and two to three tines heavier. Gemini will be orbited by a Titan II missile with first flight tests in 1963-64. This sketch was released today in Washington by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.Photo measures 10 x 8.25inches. Photo is dated 01-03-1962.
