This antique British Light Cavalry Sword, dating back to 1821 period, is 39" overall including scabbard and with a 33" slightly curved double fullered blade with a 11.5" spear point tip. Manufacture in the United Kingdom it bears a inlaid gold proof medallion. It is a unique item for any militaria collector. The sword features a period designed leather tooled replacement scabbard that has been nicely crafted with cross stitched seam and fitted with a brass drag.. The sword shows age & wear with the cutting edge marred with numerous nics probably from rough campaign usage. The metal surface is peppered with shallow corrosion pits. that has been cleaned and is now in very good condition.
The hilt is tight to blade. The grips are wire wrapped fishskin. Wire wrap has separated and loose in spots. otherwise, no significant signs of damage. 
These swords were made for light cavalry or royal artillery and type used in the charge of the Light Brigade Period. Its blade has a sharp edge and is ready for display or use in reenactments. This is a one-of-a-kind item that any collector would be proud to own.
