This exquisite early 1900’s pendant light fixture has been fully restored and rewired and is ready for a new home! As you can see, it features a very rare large 12.5" tall cranberry flashed glass globe shade with a lovely French Art Nouveau wild rose design. It is not marked, but I am fairly sure this shade was made by a French luxury glass maker such as Val St. Lambert, Baccarat, or St. Louis. I am not a glass expert but as far as I can tell, rather than the much more common stenciled acid-etching method used in mass-production, this shade was decorated using a cameo glass engraving technique in which the design, including the intricate fingerprint-like “vermiculated” background, was carved into the glass by hand using diamond tipped tools. The stars between the panels are wheel-cut and I think the crystal bottom finial is applied glass that was cut with facets. Very labor-intensive fine artisan glass work. It is in very good condition with some small bubbles and marks in the glass as well as some light overall wear, but no chips or cracks. The shade comes with a lovely pendant fixture that has been fully restored with a rich hand-painted antique gold finish, rewired, and given a new crossbar for easy installation. It has a total hanging length of approximately 42" with the current length of chain. If you would like the chain adjusted to fit your installation requirements, just let me know and I would be happy to modify it for you before sending it out. Please see all photos. Shipped with great care.
