Steiff Rupert Bear Alpaca Brown Teddy Bear 653599 Retired Ltd Edition 1196/1973



Rupert Bear was created in 1920 by Mary Tourtel as a cartoon for the Daily Express newspaper and his adventures continue up to this day, celebrating his 75th Anniversary in 1995.


Rupert lives in Nurwood with his parents, Mr and Mrs Bear, in a country cottage. Each story is full of adventure, with Rupert either around his home, on the or in the woods, or flying his chariot to strange places such as the Land of Sponge Cake and Fairyland.


On his adventures he is accompanied by various characters - Bill Badger, Podgy Pig, P.C Growler, Sailor Sam, Edward Trunk. Algy Pug. Pong Ping, Margot, Professor, Gypsy Grannie, Tigerlily and the more unusual Drizzle, Mr. Grimnasty, Willy the Wisp, and Raggety the Twigman.



Rupert Bear is made from genuine alpaca. Covering 50% wool, and 50% cotton.


Size is 28cm, and fully jointed.


He is in mint condition, as he has been kept in a display cabinet.


Include all the certificates and paperworks.


Coming with his original box. Unfortunately the box has some water damage on the corner, but still in very good condition.
