ITEM DESCRIPTION

This is an original 18th century print from an engraved copper plate by William Hogarth.
This is Plate 6 and was originally published in 1735 According to Act of Parliament in relation to the Engraving Copyright Act of 1734 which Hogarth himself prompted.
The engraving depicts a group of rowdy men in a pub, some are counting coins, some are trying to put out a fire, and one man in particular is celebrating(?) with his fist in the air after knocking his wig onto the floor.
There is a nice poem at the bottom which I think is in reference to how gold and money can corrupt the mind? I'm no expert on poetry and it's written in old English so it is quite hard to understand.

Rakes Progress Plate 6.

It is currently framed but I will probably take it out for postage reasons. It would be a lot safer rolled up for transport than left in the frame.

Please see close-up photographs provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition for yourself.
Condition Report: Normal signs of age and use wear. The frame does have some knocks and marks.
The print itself is in nice condition with no fading etc. but there are some areas of foxing marks.

It measures approx. 22 inches x 19 and 1/2 inches in the frame.

SPECIAL NOTICE - I will be taking this OUT of the frame to send it to you - rolled in a tube - as it has glass and a delicate frame. If you would like to COLLECT the item from me that will be fine and I am at Leevintiques, 23 North End, Bedale, DL8 1AF. Please make sure you arrange collection as the shop is not always open. Cheers Lee.

Postage policies:

International overseas buyers please read this first - I use Global Shipping Program - GSP to send items to you.
GSP sorts any paperwork etc. which enables items to get through customs much faster than other delivery company.

I am offering FREE postage to the GSP hub in the UK.
GSP then decide on the cost of shipping, sales tax, and possible other charges etc. - All this information can found on the listing BEFORE bidding or buying.
I have no control over the prices that GSP set.

Unfortunately GSP do open the packages they receive to check the contents and then re-wrap them for the forward journey to you. This has caused some issues in the past so please take my word that I personally wrap all items as best I can to survive the trip, but GSP sometimes do not take as much care as I do when re-wrapping.

The shipping time is usually very quick but as you can appreciate there may be delays for any number of reasons which are out of both mine and your control. Thank you.

I now offer FREE shipping - postage on the majority of my eBay items. You can also arrange to COLLECT your item from my actual antique shop if that is easier for you.

To see ALL my other 7000+ items for sale, please click on VISIT SHOP or see other items. Strangely, both options seem to only give a limited view of what I have to offer, so to see everything I have available, click on Shop by Category which will give you a much better view.

Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter, or a universal sized Coke can (330ml).

If you see A/F = a/f in the title or description it means "as found" condition which may have scuffs, scratches and damage. In relation to all my listings it does not mean " about fine ". I have used A/F  for " as found " for 45 years.
