Evanston, Wyoming guide sign.

Up for sale today is this Evanston, Wyoming Lincoln Highway sign. Made to the exact standards as used between 1916 and 1919 along this historic highway.

The Lincoln Highway is the first transcontinental route from east to west: it was devised in 1913 and completed to a drivable state approximately a year later, with paving and improvements coming gradually. By the late 1920s, the newer US Highway System of 1926 had rendered it obsolete, but for many years it led the way in road quality improvement, especially out west.

The sign as seen here was posted in western Wyoming, just east of the Utah state line. The Automobile Club of Southern California expended many resources to help wayfarers find the correct route across some pretty forbidding landscapes. If you would like a similar sign, but from another location along the route, please inquire.

This sign is 18 by 30 inches, and weighs 13 pounds and 6 ounces. Originals of this type of sign do exist, but to find one that isn't shot abysmally full of holes would require lots of time and resources.

This is a high quality, durable sign made of heavy steel. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!

Would you like a number not seen here? Or perhaps a different style? I can of course make these signs with any route number of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from bygone eras. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A.
