<>Introduction -- Report is concerned with engineering & economic feasibility of area surface coal mining systems - other than draglines. The analysis evaluates shovel-trucks, shovel-crusher-conveyors, & shovel-rail excavation & haulage systems for an assortment of geologic environments & production rates - in Powder River Basin of N. Dakota & Wyoming.

Shovel-trucks, front-end loaders/trucks, & shovel-crusher-conveyors were studied in a multi-seam, dipping geologic area of Four Corners region of New Mexico & Arizona. The Texas lignite engineering & economic research involved bucket-wheel excavators, excavators-backhoes, & scraper-backhoe combinations for overburden & coal excavation. A total 12 mines were evaluated to generate data (Illinois, other Western U.S. mines, Germany).

CONDITION  Size approx. 11 1/2 x 9 1/2 x 1 - Gold cardstock cover for spiral-bound book. Binding is very good, pages secure within 1980 collectible book - Very Good condition. From my collection as a mining engineer. It resided in an indoor storage cabinet since mid-1980s. Lettering on cover intact. There may be some natural color aging in pages & covers from 1980 printing. No apparent writing.

Book also MAY Have some shelf storage wear and edge or corner wear, lightly tanned with age, a bit of cover or page creasing, smudges, slight curving of book/pages, minor darkening of pages at top, bottom, or fore-edges, & cover color rubbing wear - though this may not be apparent to view in 11 photos.
