Benjamin Franklin Bridge sign.

Up for sale today is this Ben Franklin Bridge guide sign, from Pennsylvania, complete with a Bicentennial logo in the corner. Made to the exact state standard used along the roads leading to this beautiful suspension bridge spanning the Delaware River.
Originally named the Delaware River Bridge, this steel suspension bridge connects Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Camden, New Jersey, and carries Interstate 676, US 30, two sidewalks, and two railroad tracks for the Port Authority Transit Corporation Speedline along the way. It was changed to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in 1955, when the construction of the Walt Whitman bridge, another bridge crossing the Delaware River, started construction. If you would like a sign for that bridge (or any of the other three Delaware River bridges), please see my other auctions. Take a piece of history home with you by purchasing this elegant sign for yourself or a loved one today!

An original of these is very rare to find scrapped, as many enjoy their service on the streets leading up to the bridge itself. They are not generally intended to end up in one's suitcase. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without risking unwanted attention from the
police.

The sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 3 pounds, 3 ounces. This one is a precise rescaling of the freeway style sign down to a more manageable 18 by 7 1/2 inch size. It is a non-reflective sign - perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. (If you would like a larger size version, please ask as I can certainly make one!)

This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!

I can of course make these signs with any route number of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from bygone eras. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A.
