This book, printed in Bath at The Pitman Press in 1930, is a history of the famous publishing company begun by Isaac Pitman (of shorthand fame) and continuing to this day. There are numerous illustrations tipped in and a photogravure frontispiece of the founder. Very good condition with decorative cloth covers and paste-paper endpapers. Added to this sale is an original etching by Cyril Barraud (1877-1965) of the Pitman library at 39 Parker St, London. According to the note on the back of this etching Barraud did etchings to be used as Christmas cards by the company. This etching was issued in 1951.
