This item is a pair of hickory shafted irons. Made by Burke from their Jock Hutchison series. Marked Monel Metal on the back. Monel is a rustless alloy made by INCO (International Nickel) that was used in golf heads for a number of years in the 1920's. Both have the banned deep grooves that will really stop a ball. Included are a 37 1/4" Mashie Niblick with 35* loft and a D 8 swingweight and a 35 1/2" Niblick with 45* loft and a C 8 swingweight. Two great scoring clubs to add to your play set. The heads are clean and not all rusted. They do have the expected play nicks and dings. Please look at the many zoom pictures to get a better idea of condition. The shafts are old apparently original hickories. They both have minor bends, I see no cracks and they have some play at the hosel.  All hickory shafted clubs should be re-set prior to play. The grips are old long leather wraps that are in fair to good vintage condition. Great name and great clubs.

If you are considering playing with this club, while I see no issues with this hickory shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whipping be added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage. These hickory shafts often have hidden defects and are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee hickory shafts against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old hickory shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old hickory shafted wood with a hard range ball.

Shipping in the US is calculated and based on a 4-pound box. This item shipped UPS Ground. For those of you that never ship but only receive items, the further you are from me in NC the more shipping will be. That is the way the carriers charge. On top of that, eBay and takes almost 15% of what I receive for shipping (out of $10 I receive $8.50) and I would like to break even. eBay collects sales tax for many states. They charge me 15% for that service and I never see that money.
