Pre Columbian Tumbagas from Tayrona, Colombia. Made using the lost-wax casting technique where metal sculptures are duplicated from wax molds. Wax is heated, melted than emptied and then replaced with a precious alloy containing mainly copper, zinc, lead and gold with minor traces of silver.



Gold products of ancient Colombia, made by casting method using a wax model, show the unique craftsmanship of jewelers of those times (years 500-1600).
