This sweet Birthday greeting card dates, I think to the late 1930s - could be early 1940s.  It was sent to members of the "Arkubs" children's club.  The Arkubs were a club connected to the "Japhet & Happy" newspaper cartoon strip which appeared in the "News Chronicle" newspaper.  The card features little Happy sleeping on a pile of coal.  The card measures 9.8cm x 15.7cm and is a single layer.   The publisher is presumably the News Chronicle.  No envelope.  Written name on the front.

The card is in a very good minus condition.   General edge and corner rubs, small bump and crease at top right hand corner, small, light crease at top left hand corner, tiny creases at bottom corners, very small brown spot to left hand border, some very light grubbiness and browning and the odd very small and tiny mark to  front of card, very light horizontal crease to card - more visible on reverse, some very light browning, some very small brown spots and some tiny marks and flecks to reverse, the odd tiny bump to edges.   Please check scans carefully as they help with the condition too.

Please note surface mail or first class inland mail options are always available, please ask for a quote. I always refund any excess postage charges.

I try to be accurate with my descriptions but if you have any questions please contact me. Take a look at my other auctions and ebay shop items for more collectables.
