For Sale I have a vintage and original 1970's Parker Brother's Monopoly Property Trading game. This item comes in its original box with metal game characters, green house, blue hotels, original die, Community Chest, Chance and individual property cards and notes. For some reason there are also three (3) sets of original instructions.

Monopoly is a multi-player economics-themed board game. In the game, players roll a die to move around the game board, buying and trading properties and developing them with houses and hotels. Players collect rent from their opponents, aiming to drive them into bankruptcy. Money can also be gained or lost through Chance and Community Chest cards and tax squares. Players receive a stipend every time they pass "Go" and can end up in jail, from which they cannot move until they have met one of three conditions. Monopoly has become a part of international popular culture, having been licensed locally in more than 103 countries and printed in more than 37 languages. As of 2015, it was estimated that the game had sold 275 million copies worldwide.

Monopoly is derived from The Landlord's Game, created by Lizzie Magie in the United States in 1903 as a way to demonstrate that an economy that rewards individuals is better than one where monopolies hold all the wealth and to promote the economic theories of Henry George - in particular, his ideas about taxation. The Landlord's Game originally had two sets of rules, one with tax and another on which the current rules are mainly based. The game is named after the economic concept of a monopoly—the domination of a market by a single entity.

This item is in excellent used condition - I mention for accuracy that it has some wear consistent with age, and the front of box has been drawn upon as well as the remains of some Sellotape which was previously used to seal the box in two places (see photos). The wear and tear is totally consistent with its age and give it that original patina which is impossible to replicate on newer items. This item has been stored in our loft for considerable years.

Shipping costs are £6.50 by Yodel Courier Parcel services (this is the exact cost of postage - I do not charge for packaging etc). Alternatively the item can be collected from Cheam, Surrey at no cost. Please feel free to email me if any questions.

All items shipped within 24 hours of payment. I would ask that all items purchased must be paid for within 5 days of the close of the auction.
