Offered here is an original knife/tool that is stamped as being manufactured by the famous M. M. Buck & Company, as a Bishops Patent dated 1883 and stamped M. P. R. R., for what I believe is the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Measures 8.25" total length with a 4.0" blade. Buck & Company was an early manufacturer of Railroad Lanterns and other Railroad Hardware as well as Mining Equipment. The blade has a very sharp point, though the edges are not 'beveled' as to a way to sharpen it as in a typical knife blade. Perhaps a specialty tool and once owned by the MP Railroad. If you can shed some light on what this tool may have been used for please let me know. Great display piece, even with the blade aged as shown. Thanks for looking!
