Get a piece of authentic shipwreck history. The Nuestra Señora de Atocha was a Spanish treasure galleon that sank in the Florida Keys in 1622. The ship laid underwater not found until 1985 by treasure hunter Mel Fisher who began his search in 1969. After finding the treasure Mel Fisher was sued by the state of Florida who believed they were entitled to part of the treasure. In 1982 it was ruled that Mel Fisher was entitled to the whole find. The Atocha is in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the most valuable shipwreck to be recovered. Lots of really interesting reads on this wreck and the crew led by Mel Fisher that found the treasure. Also, this year is its 400th anniversary of its sinking.
