Molecular Formula: NH4H2PO4

Vital Minerals Mono Ammonium Phosphate (MAP) supplied in resealable pouch or tub, packed in Ribble Valley UK.

USES

Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP) is used as a complex fertiliser containing nitrogen (11%) and phosphate (52%). Due to its composition, it is also called 11-52-0. MAP is a water soluble mineral phosphate fertiliser, which is used either as a raw material for several complex fertilisers (like NP and NPK) or for direct application to fruit or vegetables

MAP is the most commonly applied phosphate fertiliser globally derived from rock phosphate. Rock phosphate is mined mainly in opencast mining. It provides a low water solubility in its natural form, therefore it is unavailable for plants. With the reaction of rock phosphate and sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid is formed. The phosphoric acid is reacted with ammonia in order to create several ammonium phosphate fertilisers, such as MAP.

FEATURES

• MAP is a high analysis source of phosphorus.
• A cost effective granular product.
• Low in heavy metals.
• Good handling characteristics.
• The nitrogen in MAP is in the ammonium form, which resists leaching and is a slower release form of nitrogen.
• The product has an acid reaction in the soil which can be an advantage in neutral and high pH soils. Therefore MAP is used in preference on alkaline soils.

Ammonium Phosphate is mainly used for fertilisation process. Ammonium phosphate when applied over foliage enhances the pH activity of the soil temporarily, since the long time usage of this ammonium phosphate pH fertilisers increase the acidity of the ground. It is unsuited with other alkaline chemicals since its ammonium ion is further gets converted to ammonia in an high-pH environment.

Usage Directions:

Each 500g of Mono ammonium phosphate provides 305 grams of phosphorus (P2O5) and 60 grams of ammonium-nitrogen (N-NH4).
Example:from initial establishment to flowering,open-field grown tomatoes require phosphorus at a rate of 0.15g P2O5 per sq.metre per day.To provide this, apply Mono ammonium phosphate at a rate of 0.25g per sq.metreper day. This will provide also 0.03g nitrogen per aq.metre per day.To copmlete requirements, apply ammonium nitrate and (potassium nitrate)
