A lovely large signed & dated 1890 oil on panel by Henry Thomas Schafer the english painter who specialised in views of medieval towns and cities across Europe. This example depicts a view of Utrecht with the cathedral and figures by the canals of the city. A beautiful work by this sought after painter. Ready to hang.

Painter, watercolourist, draughtsman. Figures, scenes with figures, genre scenes, church interiors, landscapes, waterscapes, urban landscapes, architectural views.
Henry Thomas Schafer was active from 1873 to 1915. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists. He exhibited The Writer at the Royal Academy and Suffolk Street in London, and at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1911.
