This is an 1837 City of Chicago Mayor's Oath of Office signed by Mayor William B Ogden.

William B Ogden was the 1st Mayor of Chicago serving from 1837-1838.

Ogden would create the Chicago Dock and Canal Company, founded the Chicago Board of Trade, and was the first president of the Union Pacific Railroad.

The Oath came from a long shuttered Museum in Virginia.
