Nowdays glass is mostly made mechanically, but the art of forming glass into ware, blowing it by mouth, is very old.

The old glassblowers lived like most other artisans a rather bohemian life. They seldom had their families with them when travelling from one glassworks to another and, consequently, their eating habits were not always what you expect of a family man today. When mealtime come, instead of going some place to eat, the old glassblowers often blew a bowlshaped piece of glass with a handle. They put their cold food into il and stuck it into the furnace to "grill". Quite simple but very efficient.

This hundreds of years old, but now almost forgotten method for a glassblower to prepare his food has been taken up by the AB Ruda Nya Glasindustri, one of the factories in the Jungner group. Their skilful glassblowers now blow a modern replica of this unique "frying-pan" made of NIFE heatresisting glass. You can safely use it' in the same way as the old glassblowers did, to grill your food (meat, sausages etc) over an open fire.
