SS IRAQ VICTORY Memorial WW II Victory Ship first day cover with postmark

from Norcross, GA. dated Jan 27, 2017. Color photo printed cachet #7510 of

underway Victory Ship by Alvin Eckert USCS #9964. The merchant cargo

ship was built by Permanente Metals Corp. at Richmond, CA. and launched on June 6,

1944. The proud new vessel transported vital supplies to overseas US and

Allied Forces during WW II. See her web page entries for the details of her design,

The ship was named for Iraq and was part of a group

of 32 Victory Ships that were named for Allied Nations in WW II. Cover franked

with forever flag stamp (FDOI), a 3 cent Merchant Marine stamp #939 from 1946.

The cover was prepared on a un-gummed, archive quality envelope.
