Description A superb decorative English antique early 19th Century Georgian solid sterling silver snuff box by the silversmith John Shaw (1803 - 1825) in lovely condition and has full English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1818. Excellent quality with a flush-fitting recessed hinged silver lid and is decorated with attractive engraved grapes and vine leaves and a has a nice fluted border. Inside it is complete with the original undamaged gilt-lined interior and there are no added personal engraved inscriptions.
Measurements Measures approx. 2.1 inches (53mm) x 1.45 inches (36mm) and is 0.7 inches (18mm) deep.
Date English antique Georgian solid sterling silver with English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1818 (date letter "u"). Good matching silver marks on the box and lid including the silver duty stamp of King George the Third and the silversmiths initials are "I S", (John Shaw - 1803 - 1825).
