These Martin-branded Schaller tuners were the deluxe option in the early/mid-1980s and were used on many Martin Custom Shop models around the time Martin was celebrating their 150th Anniversary in 1983. This version, for slotted headstocks, was also used on 12-fret 00-21 models as well as special ordered models like the 12-fret D-28S. Since the buttons can be removed, these same tuners are also seen with ebony (or black plastic) buttons and metal buttons with an engraved "M". This set turned up on a shelf in Gryphon's attic and has never been used. The set includes six barrel-bushings which go in the center spine of the slotted headstock and 12 mounting screws. These tuners pre-date Martin's use of Waverly-Sloane 3-on-a-plate tuners for slotted headstock models.  Note that some slotted headstock Martins from the early 1980s were shipped with Grover "box-car" tuners because they still had some of those gears in stock.
